SSP Rao Anwar arrests MQM leader Khawaja Izharul Hasan



KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah suspended Malir SSP Rao Anwar shortly after the police officer arrested Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Khawaja Izharul Hasan.



Anwar had arrested the Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly following a raid at his house in Karachi’s Buffer Zone. He was shifted to Gadap City police station. Party’s senior leader Farooq Sattar accompanied Hasan but was not arrested.



In a statement to media, Sindh CM said Rao Anwar will face punishment if he has done anything wrong [arresting the MQM]. According to reports, he also ordered the leader’s release.



Condemning Hasan’s arrest, Sattar while speaking to the media said, “The Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly has been arrested without a warrant.”
